General Resort Questions
What is the difference between East and West?
Hidden Mountain East is located only 1 mile from the main parkway, 441. We are ½ mile past The Apple Barn & Cider Mill and only a few minutes from Tanger Outlets at Five Oaks. Most of our homes here are inside a gated resort. This location includes log cabins, mountaintop villas, Old Home Place farmhouse cottages, The Dell motorcoach resort, our group and wedding venues, a 24-hour office*, and resort amenites, including seasonal outdoor swimming pools, fitness room, picnic pavilions, and fishing ponds. If you prefer convenience, a neighborhood setting, and onsite resort amenities, East is for you!
Hidden Mountain West is our original location and it is located 5.5 miles off the main parkway in Pigeon Forge. Guests here are only minutes from the Wears Valley community and closer to Townsend, as well. Our West Cabins are more spread out with beautifully rustic surroundings. Our most secluded cabins are at this location. Here, Hidden Mountain Resort guests have access to a seasonal pool, fishing pond, and picnic pavilion. The beautiful West cabins are great for guests who want a scenic Smoky Mountain vacation. Also, many of our best views are found here!
Guests of Hidden Mountain Resort may enjoy amenities at both East & West locations.
Do you have a 24-hour onsite office?
Our Hidden Mountain East office on Apple Valley Road is open 24-hours most of the year. We are closed on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. We do not have an onsite office at Hidden Mountain West. Guests staying at West need to check-in at our East location. You can find today’s hours by calling our Front Desk at 865-453-9850.
How early can we check-in, how late can we check-out?
Check-in time is 4:00 pm or later. Holidays and area events may extend check-in times. The balance must be paid in full before front desk will give keys to any member of the party.
Our housekeeping staff work quickly to move through all of the cabins between 11-4, but we also have the cabins inspected after cleaning, and the hot tubs are cleaned and inspected as well. If you check-in early, your cabin may miss these additional inspections.
Side Note: We recommend that you do not purchase groceries until after your 4:00 check-in, as they cannot be left in the cabin until after it is cleaned.
Check-out time is 11:00 am, and your keys will not work beyond 11:00 am. We cannot guarantee a late check-out, although this may be an option in slower seasons.
Do you allow pets?
We do have a selection of Pet Friendly Cabins that allow up to 2 dogs, maximum 30 pounds for one or combined 50 pounds for two. You can find these by using the Advanced Search Filter and choosing “Pet Friendly Cabins.” Please see our Rental Policies for details on pet fees and permissions.
Do you have Quiet Hours in the resort?
At Hidden Mountain East, the Home Owner Association has posted Quiet Hours of 10 PM-9 AM.
Do you allow parties?
We allow considerate celebrations. We love to enjoy time with loved ones, and we encourage having fun with family and friends. We do our best to maintain a family-friendly environment.
We do not allow drunken and disorderly parties, fraternity or sorority events, unsupervised student groups, etc. We will call the police in the event of disruptions. If guests are evicted, no refund will be given.
Are your cabins easy to access? Is 4-wheel drive required?
While we are in the mountains, all of our drives are paved. In normal weather conditions, 4-wheel drive is not necessary. (See below for seasonal information.)
If you require level parking or prefer units that aren’t as high in the resort, please call our Front Desk, and they will be happy to assist you with unit selection.
How much parking is available?
Parking at each home is limited. If you require additional parking for additional vehicles, car trailers, boats, motorcycles, etc., we do have overflow parking areas that Front Desk can direct you toward.
Fifth Wheels, RVs, and Pop Ups are not permitted in the resort.
What is The Dell?
The Dell is the Smokies’ most unique Motorcoach Resort. Exclusively for Class A and Super C Motorcoaches, guests at The Dell also have access to all resort amenities located inside the gated community of Hidden Mountain East.
We ask that guests at The Dell unhook your coach outside our Gate House and bring only your vehicle to the office to check-in. Also, we ask you to be set up on your site before 9 pm on the day of your arrival to preserve the resort’s Quiet Hours.
Do I need a Fishing License?
You do not need a fishing license for the small ponds at Hidden Mountain East. If you are fishing outside the resort, you will need to purchase a Fishing License. These can be purchased at Walmart Supercenter or the Sevier County Clerk.
Reserving Your Stay
Please see our Rental Policies, also.
How old must guests be to reserve a home or site at Hidden Mountain Resort?
Guests must be 21 to reserve a 1-2-bedroom cabin. Guests must be 25 to reserve a 3-14- bedroom cabin. We do require a copy of a valid driver’s license & license plate tag to check-in, and this person will be responsible for the home and guests during their stay.
Is the damage deposit refundable?
No. A mandatory damage fee is applied to every reservation in order to cover accidental damages. If damage in excess of $1000 occurs during your stay, you will be charged the additional amount. If damage is caused or additional cleaning is required due to reckless behavior, parties, pets, or on purpose for any reason, you will be charged the full amount of total costs to repair and clean the home(s).
Can I book a 1-night stay? Why is there a 2, 3, or 4-night minimum?
Because we are maintaining and cleaning a full home, our turn-around time is not as quick as a hotel/motel. We could not clean every home every day, so we do require at least a 2-night minimum most of the year. During busy and peak seasons, it may be 3 or 4 night minimums. However, there are times that we can find one open night between two other reservations, and we will try to accommodate a 1-night request if we can. We do require an additional housekeeping fee on 1-night reservations.
Do you offer specials?
We consistently offer a winter/spring special, and it is generally published in November. We also offer occasional Flash Sales that are promoted in our e-newsletter. You can sign up for our e-newsletter here on our website.
Occasionally, we may offer Last Minute Specials through our Facebook page. Like our Facebook page to stay in touch with us!
We offer a 5% year-round discount to active military and veterans with proper identification.
Discounts cannot be combined and some restrictions apply.
At the Cabin
Do you have any cabins that allow smoking?
No. Every home at Hidden Mountain Resort is Non-Smoking. If we find that a unit has been smoked in, we will charge a $200 fee for deodorizing the cabin.
Do you provide linens, towels, toiletries?
Cabins are cleaned prior to your arrival. Bedding, bath, and kitchen linens are provided based on advertised occupancy. We also provide a starter set of toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing detergent and dish soap. Every unit offers a washer/dryer, iron and ironing board. We do not provide toiletries or laundry detergent. Also, we do not provide towels for the pool area.
Do you provide housekeeping, maintenance, and pest control services?
Each cabin is cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival. While we don’t furnish daily housekeeping during your stay, you may bring dirty towels to the front desk to switch out for clean towels. You can also request trash pick-up at the front desk. It will be picked up during the hours of 9 am – 5 pm. Do not leave trash out overnight.
Each home receives monthly pest control treatments. Common sense says that being in the woods and mountains, you may still see occasional pests, but we do our best to provide a clean, pest free environment inside the cabins. Pest Control is on call if there is an unusual issue.
We do have onsite maintenance services and on-call maintenance and pest control for after-hours emergencies. If you see a maintenance, housekeeping, or pest control issue, please notify the front desk immediately at 865-453-9850.We will do our best to resolve any issues as quickly as possible. If we don’t know about it, we can’t correct it. We cannot refund money due to issues that we have corrected, are beyond our control, or we do not know about until after your stay.
We are one of only two resorts in the area providing these services at no extra cost to the guest.
What do I need to bring with me to the cabin?

- Groceries. (Please plan ahead when purchasing refrigerated or frozen items by confirming that your cabin is ready for check-in or bringing a cooler with ice.)

- If you plan to cook large quantities, you will need to bring your oversized cookware.
- You may consider bringing your Crock Pot or Instant Pot.
For the bath:
- We do not provide bathing amenities, so you will need your toiletry kit, hair dryer, and any other bath products you prefer.

Do you provide phones/internet/cable, and is there an additional charge?
Yes, we do provide these Free services. At Hidden Mountain East, we have Free wireless internet and high definition cable through Charter Communications. One resort phone per cabin is provided.
At Hidden Mountain West, we provide Free wireless internet and cable through Comcast. One local phone per cabin is provided.
Why do the cabins no longer have gas grills?
After the Gatlinburg fire in the fall of 2016, the fire marshal requested that all gas grills be removed from rental cabins in Sevier County. As the grills need to be replaced in the cabins, we began replacing them with either park-style charcoal grills, electric grills, or even George Foreman grills in the kitchen. Although recently, the codes have allowed some cabins to replace gas grills by re-venting the grill. We recognize that grilling is very popular and we are doing our best to accommodate guests who grill. If this is a concern, please call our Front Desk for the most up-to-date information on your cabin’s grill. 865-453-9850
Seasonal
Why are the pools “seasonal?”
The resort pools at Hidden Mountain are located outside and are not heated. Weather permitting, our pools are open Easter through Labor Day. We have 3 resort pools located at Hidden Mountain East and Old Homeplace. Several cabins have seasonal private pools, as well. Most of our cabins have private hot tubs, also.
Please Note: Children under 16 may not be left unattended, and wee have no Lifeguards on Duty. Swim at your own risk, and please observe the rules posted at each pool area.
Why are the fireplaces “seasonal?”
Our cabins, cottages, villas, and sites have gas, wood-burning and/or electric fireplaces only operational from October 1 – April 30. Shut-offs may occur before April 30 and turn-ons may occur after October 1 at management’s discretion, as we disable the fireplaces during the warmer months to prevent overheating the house and freezing the A/C.
For the wood-burning fireplaces, firewood is available to purchase at the office.
Why is a view called “seasonal?”
Some villas and cabins have a better view when the leaves are off the trees! Once the greenery of summer arrives, the view may be blocked or limited.
What are your peak seasons?
July, October, holidays, and holiday weekends are our busiest times. There are also a few other “peak” weekends in the year, such as car show weekends.
If your schedule allows, May, mid-August, September weekdays, and early November are excellent times to visit. May brings beautiful spring colors with excellent hiking and views plus less traffic. Some August and September dates still have peak attraction hours without the giant crowds. The first of November provides fall in the Smokies without the mass crowds of October.
Our slowest months are January, February, and March (excluding holidays and some weekends). Dollywood and many shows are closed, but it is a beautiful time to enjoy a cozy mountain cabin! Plus, shorter waits at restaurants and attractions.
Can we access our cabin in winter weather conditions?
We take our guests’ safety seriously on winter roads. We do salt and plow the roads in ice and snow. As a precaution, some guests bring snow chains for their vehicle if there is a threat of severe storm. There are some cabins that we will move guests from if we are expecting bad road conditions. We will not put our guests in homes that we cannot access, even if the home has been specifically requested. Also, we recommend that guests do not leave the cabin during ice and snow storms before checking with front desk. The good news is that we have amazing and dedicated staff, and there is always someone nearby!
These winter storm conditions occur only a few times per year, and winter is a lovely time to get snowed in with some good books, hot cocoa, a fireplace, and a hot tub!
